“Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry; but by demonstrating that all peoples cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it can introduce the idea that if we try and understand each other, we may even become friends.”

– Maya Angelou

I’ve been lucky enough to have been able to travel so much, independently. I’ve visited cuba six times, Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Panama, Spain (sí, hablo español), Australia, Indonesia, China, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, Morocco, Trinidad and Tobago. Often going back to the same country to explore some more.

I studied film and politics at the University of Guadalajara, Mexico; and political science, social research and human rights at the Chinese University of Hong Kong.

San Pedro, Guatemala 2005. I gave trumpet lessons to this 11-year-old gal and accompanied her school band for the town’s annual parade. (All other girls played bells, boys played drums.)
